As you know the Internet is becoming more social every day and your online law firm marketing should reflect that. Besides using popular social media outlets to promote your firm an important part of your online marketing should also be social proof. The biggest way to show or use social proof is by placing and featuring client testimonials on your website. This may seem like a given but I see many personal injury firm websites without testimonials and if they do have them they are hidden where most people will just pass them up.
A law firm may think that their impressive case results and long impressive resumes may be enough to get a potential client to call but often it’s not. Potential clients want to know if you can help them or if they choose you that the experience is going to be a good one. Does it get better then letting a past client do the talking?
One of the major hurdles to putting testimonials on your website is actually getting them. Well the first thing you have to do is ASK YOUR PAST CLIENTS for testimonials. Sure it seems easy to just make them up but I am sure you know; it’s illegal to make up testimonials. After you ask your past clients for a good review of your law firm you will be surprised how many will be happy to do so. To make it easier to gain testimonials offer to write them and have your client give you the “ok” for what you have written.
If you make gathering testimonials a routine with your firm’s client relations, the process gets even easier. Then you can take things even further with video testimonials. A video testimonial is about as good as testimonials get. A video can really bring across a real personal feel and convey emotion that you just can’t get from reading a normal testimonial. The cool thing is that the video you make does not have to be heavily produced at all. In fact the less produced the video, the more likely the testimonial will be viewed as genuine.
Remember, some states have strict rules when it comes to testimonials beyond what makes any logical sense (Florida I am looking at you), so make sure you check your state laws before throwing your testimonials online.
